FBI Offers $150,000 Reward for Rodney Dean Allen in KA Investments Fraud Case

FBI Seeks Rodney Dean Allen

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Rodney Dean Allen, an investment adviser wanted on a federal wire fraud charge. Allen is accused of operating a scheme through KA Investments, LLC, in which clients were given false information about the performance of their investments while their money was allegedly misappropriated. Allen has been missing since April 20, 2017, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

KA Investments Fraud Allegations

According to the FBI, Allen allegedly devised a scheme between approximately 2016 and 2017 to defraud clients of KA Investments, LLC. Investigators accuse him of obtaining clients' money through false representations and promises before misappropriating their funds. Clients allegedly received monthly statements that made their investments appear considerably more successful than they actually were.

The FBI provides one example involving a November 2016 account statement. Allen allegedly represented that a client's account had earned 1.903% during the month when the account had actually lost 36.01%. The substantial difference between the reported gain and actual loss illustrates the investment-performance misrepresentations at the center of the federal case.

Client Money Allegedly Misappropriated

Allen also allegedly told KA Investments clients that he collected commissions ranging between 14% and 18% of investment profits. According to the FBI, he instead misappropriated client deposits for his personal use regardless of whether the investments generated a profit or loss. Authorities further allege that the percentage of client funds he took was greater than the commissions represented to investors.

The allegations eventually resulted in a federal wire fraud charge. On January 10, 2018, the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho issued a federal arrest warrant for Allen. By that point, Allen had already been missing for several months.

Missing Since April 2017

Allen has been missing since April 20, 2017, according to the FBI. Despite the continuing federal fugitive investigation, his current location remains unknown. Information concerning where Allen traveled immediately before or after his disappearance could potentially help investigators reconstruct his movements.

Because nearly a decade has passed since his disappearance, Allen's appearance may have changed considerably. Former clients, business associates, acquaintances, or others who encountered him after April 2017 may possess information useful to investigators. Even historical information concerning his movements could potentially assist the investigation.
